Hi friends and family! We get to have 5 days off on an island called Koh Jum. Koh Jum is 1 of 1,430 islands in Thailand. Koh means island in Thai.
On Koh Jum island, we get to relax and mom says that it is a vacation though if it was really a vacation we would not have to do mom school. There are a lot of fun things to do here.
On Koh Jum island, we clean up the beach! On the beaches there is a lot of rubbish and in each room there is a black bag for collecting garbage on the beach. We have probably collected 10 to 15 pounds of trash on the beach. Most of the garbage that we collect is: micro plastics, plastic bags, and bottle caps. There is a lot of plastic along the beaches and it makes me feel sad to think of all the animals that are dying from the plastic. It feels awesome to clean the beach. It reminds me of earth day at my school where we separate into groups and clean the town. I wonder what it would be like if the world had no plastic.
This is how much garbage we collected after 5 minutes. There was about 20 plastic straws.
On our first day here we went paddle boarding in the Andaman Sea. We saw a lot of pink, biggish jellyfish with small tentacles. They did not sting us though 😮💨. It was really shallow water. Like if you went out to where me and Eva paddle board in the summer, but only as deep/tall as Baker. We got to jump off the paddle boards into the water and it was so cool!! We saw coral and little fishies. It was quite fun jumping off a paddle board. I am getting stronger and better at paddle boarding. I was not scared to stand up and paddle.
On our second day, dada drove us in a tuk-tuk to a pretty beach.
This is what it looked like. We sat in front of where you can see us pushing. It was so much fun!! We got it from a dealer and are driving home right now! Just kidding! The hotel lent it to us. The beach was not that fun because I had to keep an eye on the stuff.🥱😐 I got to ride behind dada on the way back because Baker got to on the way there.
It was AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I have never done anything like it in my whole life. It was more fun and way faster than riding a bicycle downhill.
Here I met a girl named Noelle and we became really good friends. Together we:
swam in the pools, ate dinner and lunch and sometimes breakfast together, and talked about stuff. Today Noelle left and I miss her a lot. It felt good to make a friend who only lives 2 hours away from home.
This is us sharing a lime soda.
This is us 5 minutes before they left.
I have had a great time in Thailand. I loved seeing baby elephants and making a new friend. The next stop is Malaysia!!!!!
ขอบคุณสำหรับการอ่าน! (Thank you for reading in Thai!)
Love Ginny!!
Wow, you've made so many friends!
Hey Ginny! I love that you spent time cleaning up all the plastics on that beach. We are doing street clean up at Bertschi on Earth Day again this year, coming up soon! Did you know that Bertschi has now officially "adopted" our part of 10th Ave E? There's a sign in front of Pagliacci. When you get back you will get to see it. We have to keep cleaning up the street four times per year.
Hey lady! It's great to hear your experience about chipping in and helping to clean up the planet. Thank you for doing that! And I'm glad you made a new friend 💚
We miss you Ginny! So fun reading about your time in Thailand and seeing Noelle on your blog :)
