Vietnam, my new home!!!!!!!!!!

Ginny Rourke

We are in Vietnam and our first city was Ho Chi Minh which is also called Saigon. I love it here and I would like to live here one day. Later you will hear about Can Tho, Vietnam and a little about Hoi An.

Kristina!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We got to see our friend Kristina who is basically part of our family. She took us to the Cafe Apartments. Cafe apartments are tall old apartments that are turned into cafes. We went up to 2 of the cafes. At the first one we got yummy yummy doughnuts.

My favorite was a vanilla mini doughnut with chocolate in the middle, and a dollop of chocolate on top. The second cafe (and also my favorite) was called Good Day.

This is me and Kristina!!!!!! At Good Day there was a loft that we could eat in. There was a kitty mural on the wall behind me. I didn't notice it until mom pointed it out, but when I saw it I was so happy. I LOVE KITTIES!!!!

After we had our drinks we went to the Secret Garden restaurant for lunch. While we waited for our food Kristina taught us to play flip uno. Flip uno is like Uno but there is a flip card and then you have to flip your cards over. The cards are double sided and there is a draw 1 card and a draw 5 card. I loved playing it.

After that we walked on walking street to get ice cream. Baker and Lu got vanilla and I got 2 scoops of rocky road. Then we washed our hands and took photos in a photo booth. They came out really cute!

We rode a boat on the river back to the hotel. Kristina taught us a really cute hand sign that was part of a heart. A lot of people here pose with their hands like this.

It was hard to say goodbye. I miss Kristina already! I just love her.

Floating markets in Can Tho

Then we drove to another city called Can Tho. The first morning we rode a wooden boat to the floating markets. We had to wake up at 6:30 in the morning. It was a 40 minute boat ride. I worked on the design for my babysitting business card for when I get home!

People were mostly selling yams and turnips but some people sold soup or pineapples. I even saw pumpkin! To let people know what they're selling they put up bamboo sticks with produces on it!

This one's produce is turnips (front) and yams (back). The market was like Seafair and the farmer's market combined because there were a lot of boats and people were selling yummy food. On the way to the floating markets we saw a garbage boat. When the waves crashed up against shore, the garbage boat puts its net out and scoops up the garbage. Then the garbage boat takes it to the city to recycle it. The garbage boat also runs on solar power. These are all really good things.

We stayed on a small island on the Mekong Delta. I wondered if the resort was all the island? It was very tiring to have to walk a long way so the resort had bikes for the residents to use. Me and Baker were the only ones big enough for the kid bikes so Lu had to ride on the back of my bike. We road to the end of the road and found a lot of solar panels that power the resort. This is good too!!

Here's me and Lu. We just went swimming if you can't tell.

EOPPS (End Of Paragraph PS) At bed time the people who worked at the resort tucked in Fibby (my plushie cat) and Kira (my American girl doll) in to the blankets. Wasn't that so nice of them?????

Fibby Kira

You guys are probably wondering how I'm doing, So I'm going to answer that right now.

I am doing fine though my siblings are really annoying because I'm with them 24/7 and no matter what I do they always come along. The highlights of my week are when I get to talk to my friends on FaceTime. I just got to talk to my friend Cait (adult) and it made me really happy.

Today we arrived in Hoi An, Vietnam. It was an hour and a half flight. Then we landed and drove 1 hour to our hotel. So now we are ordering dinner and going swimming! We are going dress shopping tomorrow. YAAAAYYY!

Love Ginny!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ginny! Some of my favorite experiences in Vietnam were meeting people who want to practice speaking English. Maybe you'll find some locals to talk with in Hoi An! I'm also surprised Fibby and Kira share the same bed because I've heard Kira is a LOUD snorer. Probably not good for Fibby's sleep cycles. Have a blast! Find some Bahn Xeo to eat! - Uncle Kelly

Hi Ginny, I love talking w you! It is so fun to see you during your year-long adventure. That resort looked so relaxing and cool. Do you think your writing has gotten better from all your blogging? I think so! It’s such a joy to read them. Sorry you feel like your siblings are always with you, I bet that’s frustrating at times! Please tell us all about the dress shopping afterward! Xoxox
