Today all my friends started school and I am 6,917 miles away. I am at a ranch outside Buenos Aires called Ombu de Areco. And tomorrow we will move in to an apartment in Buenos Aires for a month. Before coming to Argentina, we were in San Pedro de Atacama in Chile. There we hiked to two beautiful waterfalls. The first one was a short hike that followed a river to the top of the waterfall and then we rock climbed down to the mini lake.
This is me and mommy in the frigid waterfall. I felt really happy after I went in because I did something I was scared to do. After the waterfall, we had lunch at Chef Jorge's house. His house was not in a neighborhood, we had to offroad to get there. His house was very natural, and what I mean by that is there were a lot of trees and bridges over dry streams that filled up with water during the rainy season. There were also two crazy puppies that were trying to eat each other. We ate outside. The food was yummy! The first course was pumpkin soup, the second course was cannoli. I wish I could have eaten it all but my stomach was going to explode if I ate another bite!
The next day we went on our second hike. It was not as much fun but it was still cool. We hiked in to a canyon, then followed the river to the waterfall. The waterfall was bigger, and the rocks weren't slimy, but the water was cold.
Soon we left the waterfall and started the hike up.
The hike was hard but towards the end I raced mommy and daddy and of course I won.
Whenever we would walk in to town, Baker would stop to pet at least one dog. There are lot of street dogs in San Pedro de Atacama so some people call it San Perro de Atacama.
From San Perro de Atacama, we drove to Argentina. In Purmamarca, we went trekking with llamas!!!!!!!! My llama was named Mitre. She was 1 1/2 years old. Mommy and daddy shared Javi and Baker had his own llama who we name we never knew.
Llamas only like to be touched on there necks or cheek to cheek.
I was scared to hug Mitre at first but then I did't want to let go of her!
We walked along the river, let the llamas get some water then took them home. Walking a llama is like walking a dog except they don't pee on every bush. I had fun walking Mitre and was sad to goodbye.
I am looking forward to being in Buenos Aires. I'm excited to have an apartment again because I really like apartments. I hope I get my own room! I'm excited to walk everywhere like we did in Sucre. And I get new shoes because my old ones look like a dog got to them. I also will get Kira, my American Girl doll, a new outfit. I also get a new outfit because I don't have enough warm clothes for Patagonia.
I hope you all had a fun summer! Happy first day of school!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Bye!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Love Ginny

Hi Ginny!!!, I love catching up on your blog posts, I am excited that you did something that you were scared to do!! Trekking with llamas sounds super fun!! Where did you go with your llama Mitre? I will miss you at school and I am excited to see you next year and I am also excited for your next blog post!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Love, your friend Noelle!!!
Love that photo of you cheek-to-cheek with Mitre. What happens if you touch a llama somewhere OTHER than on their neck or cheek-to-cheek?
