Hi friends and family. Nepal wasn’t a good experience for us. We tried it all—city life, village life, volunteering, jungle camping, and trekking. And despite repeated disappointment, we woke up every day ready to have a great day. It just never got better.
So, what to write about Nepal? This blog is largely to keep our people at home informed. It also is a journal of sorts that the five of us can access throughout our lives. I want to be honest and record life as it really happened. But I also am tired don’t want to remember how bad this was.
So what I’ll choose to remember is our teamwork and resilience. We stuck together, we stayed positive, and we never let go of the hope that tomorrow would be beautiful.
I'm grateful we are all healthy and will be moving on to the Philippines in a few days. Only four countries to go! We planned the rest of the trip ourselves, so no more guides or drivers. Just us making our way across Eastern Asia. I am ready!
All my love,
Madeline

Darn it! That bad, every day? Ugh! Onwards, friend
Can't wait to hear about the Philippines. I hope you get some good beach time and find some pancit!!
I am sure Nepal is a mixed bag of experiences. Perhaps too third world for the kids. I hear the smells will knock you over. Yes the good news is that you survived it and are stronger for having done just that! Tell Baker that Trent misses him and is looking forward to playing this summer. Love, Q
