From hand feeding monkeys to visiting Incan terracess, the past week has been a blast!!!!!! Since my last post I have been to 2 stupendous places: The Amazing Amazon, and pretty Pisac, Peru.
The Amazing Amazon
The Amazon is a diverse habitat to many animals. It has lots of bugs and lots of trees. When you walk out side it is very humid so it is also very hot. On Tuesday, July 11th 2023 we hiked to Lago Apu Victor. On the way we swung on a vine. The vine was coming the canopy of the jungle.
At the lake we went in a small boat and paddled around the lake. We were looking for black caimans, which are mini crocodiles. We saw two and lots of pretty birds.
We also took a trip to Monkey Island. Monkey Island is an island full of rescued monkeys. We fed monkeys and they were really nice. We fed them bananas. Sometimes you would have to throw the bananas and sometimes you would do a handoff.
This is me doing the handoff to a black spider monkey.
The Amazon is amazing. I recommend you go there one day!
Pretty Pisac, Peru
After the Amazon we came to Pisac, Peru. Pisac is in the Sacred Valley. There are these things called terraces made by the Incan civilization. They were used for farming in the mountains.
The Incas used these for growing potatoes and corn. I wonder what they looked like when they had crops on them!
We also learned how to make traditional Incan ceramics.
There was a girl named Alcione and she helped me make my ceramic bowl. I liked using the pottery wheel for the first time. It reminded me of art class with Maria.
Funny facts with Ginny!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I invented the Peruvian version of a s'more
Halve a potato + a stick of cheese + Halve a potato = Peruvian s'more!
At Potato Park the farmers grow over 1,000 types of potatoes.
I have a new friend named Yaneth! She is Awesome!!
Thank you for reading!! Love Ginny!!!
Go Ginny, go! Potato Park sounds like a dream vacation for me! Do they have potato rides? Potato games to play? I wonder how different they would all look and taste if they were made into french fries. Oh, and next time try a chunk of chocolate inside your Peruvian s'more. Delicious. Thanks for sharing! Love, Uncle Kelly
