Kamisaraki!!

Kamisaraki masi!! That means hello friend in Aymara!! Aymara is one of the indigenous languages of Peru and Bolivia. We spoke Aymara to with the people who live on Uros Islands.

Uros Islands are on Lake Titicaca, which is a lake shared by Bolivia and Peru. We went from Puno, Peru. The Uros Islands are made out of reeds. They use the roots of reeds to make the floating part and the top part is made of the tops of reeds. We got there on a boat that I thankfully didn't barf on. The people living there were really kind and we got to go in to Maria's home.

Maria is left on the bottom in the red shirt.

We walked across the border to Bolivia!! It was very boring because all you got to do was stand in line and it took a while.

This is me and Baker having one foot on Bolivia and one foot in Peru.

Then we went to Copacabana on Lake Titicaca on the Bolivian side. In the lake there were tons of floaties!! They were used to give people rides. I liked the unicorn one.

This is us by Lake Titikaka!!! You can see some floaties in the backround.

Yesterday we drove to a town outside La Paz. We took a barge across the Strait of Tiquina. It was weird to drive the van onto the barge. It was cool and scary because I didn't want Lulu to fall in the water.

Now we are staying in an eco lodge in a valley. Last night we made a bonfire. We made S'moreos! S'moreos are one oreo spilt in half + one marshmallow + the other half of the oreo!! It was really fun because I got to have 3!! I had 2 S'moreos and 1 plain marshmallow.

Today we went to La Paz!! First we went to Moon Valley. Moon Valley is made of clay and silt. Over the years the wind and rain have shaped the clay and silt into tall skinny peaks. It didn't feel like walking on the moon because there was still gravity. Hrumph.

Next we went on a cable car. That is how people get around La Paz. It is like a gondola that goes from the bottom of the city to the top of La Paz. It was cool to see the view. I saw a purple house and a blue house. We also saw an Olympic swimming pool.

This is me and mama on the cable car!! To ride all the way around the cable car would take four and a half hours.

I'm glad I'm on this trip but I miss all of you and Baby Aurora.

Tomorrow we have a Spanish lesson and a cooking lesson. On Sunday we are flying to Sucre, Bolivia!! I'll write more from Sucre!!

Jakisiñkama!! (Good bye in Aymara) - Ginny!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi Ginny! Thanks for keeping us updated on your world travels! I just might have to try the oreo s'mores since Oreos definitely out rank Graham Crackers in my book! I hope you keep bloggin in English! If you switch to Espanol (my computer won't write the spanish "n" with the accent), then you may have to translate for many of us! So happy to hear of all your adventures! Keep them coming!!

Love and hugs,

Anne-Marie and Mark
