From the beaches of Rio to the Andes of Santiago, Chile, I love this trip!
We left Rio and flew to Santiago last Friday. Before leaving Rio we we took a huge cable car up Sugar loaf mountain. Each cable car can fit 65 people. We took one cable car up to Morro da Urca then we had to walk out and get on a different cable car system to go up to Sugar loaf.
From the top of Sugar loaf we could see all of Rio and Christ the Redeemer which we had already visited.
On the cable car ride back down to Morro da Urca we saw people rock climbing up Sugar loaf mountain from the sea. It made me want to rock climb too! Once we got to Morro da Urca we hiked down to red beach. The hike was about 2 miles. Toward the end we saw MARMOSETS!!!!!!! Marmosets are cute, little, cute, adorable monkeys. Also known as the best thing in the world. This picture makes it look big but it could fit in a mug!
At the beach we got to drink out of a real coconut. I also got whipped out by two waves. One I didn't think I would survive! After the beach we walked to a restaurant and the food was so good I had to pinch myself to make me believe I wasn't dreaming. Can you see the cable car in this photo?
The next day we went to jump USA trampoline park. There was a swing, a trapeze, slide and a basket ball court. A few girls asked me to play. So I played on all of those with my new friends. There were also a lot of trampolines. It felt really good to play with girls my age even if we didn't speak the same language.
Then we flew almost 5 hours to Santiago, Chile! We arrived at mid night. On our first day here we went to a toy store. I got 4 new pens and one of them was a Black Pink pen, and that's when I discovered that I love their music. The rest of the day was playing with our new stuff.
The next day we went on another cable car in Parque Metropolitano in Santiago. The cable cars were not as big as the ones on Suger loaf mountain.
There was a statue of the Virgin Mary at the top. A wondering that I have is, does the statue of the Virgin Mary face Christ the Redeemer across the Andes?
Then we hiked back down the mountain because mama always makes us hike. Boooooo. At the bottom there was a restaurant were I ordered garlic shrimp. Yayyyyyyyyy.
Back at the apartment I made a new friend named Matilde. She also lives here. She is the sweetest girl in all of Chile. We have waded in the pool and played lots of games together. We talk using google translate on daddy's phone and sometimes we communicate in English because she knows English. I am so happy to have a friend here.
Yesterday we went on a hike. It was 1/4 fun and 3/4 sweaty and buggy. At the three quarter point of the hike we crossed a suspension bridge. That was the fun part. It was cool to see the Andes. It had just rained so there was tons of snow in the Andes.
Santiago is the place that most feels like home because in the winter they have snow, in the summer it is hot, and the spring is just right. I love it here!!!!!!!!
I miss you all!! Love Ginny!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Ginny, What an adventure. How many languages are you going to be able to speak with all your travels. Be prepared for Portuguese or Spanish when we meet again. Love all the picture!!! Dr Alex.
So fun!! Wait, you didn’t mention the ice cream up the Virgin Maria?! What kind?? Miss you!! -Lourdes
