Hi friends! From skydiving in Sao Paulo to South America's Hawaii (Rio), I love Brazil!
When we got on the plane to Rio instead of walking through a tunnel tube we had to take a 5 minute bus ride to the plane stairs instead.
The plane ride was about 1 hour and we landed right next to the ocean. It was hot and wet. We took a taxi to our apartment and then went to the beach but only for a little bit.
The next day was a full beach day. At the beach we played wave jump. Wave jump is when you jump over the waves or let them wash over your feet.
At the beach people were trying to sell us stuff like corn on the cob or globos and matte. Globos are special crackers only found in Rio. And matte is a South American drink. Two of the waves were HUGE! They splashed us 2 times so we had to move our chairs and umbrella back. Whenever there was a big one we would shout RECORD! and make a mark in the sand. If a wave ever went over the mark we would shout RECORD!! again and make a mark and shout boo to the other ones.
We also brought "beach toys" to the beach. Our "beach toys" are spoons, bowls, pitchers, mugs, and other kitchen stuff. It was more fun than your every day beach toys. At the beach I also got six sunburns but the beach was still worth all the pain.
The next day, we went on a hike with three waterfalls! It was called Cachoeiras do Horto. Most of the hike had ropes and chains because it was it was steep and slippery rock. I thought that was a really fun way to hike!
The waterfall was amazing! It came gushing down into a pond you could swim in. Me, daddy, and Baker swam into the pond and sat on rocks by the big waterfall.
When we were in San Pedro, I was too scared to swim under a waterfall, but now look at me! I feel like I have more confidence now.
The hike was totally worth it, even though it was tricky. It was a beautiful waterfall and I felt special to be there alone.
On Monday we went see Christ the Redeemer. It is a giant statue of Jesus on top of a mountain in Rio. It looks like it is made out of stone but it is actually made out of tiny tiles. We got there by riding a red train up a steep mountain. At the "top" we had to hike up ten flights of stairs. Then we were able to see the statue. I thought "wow that it is a giant statue"! It was beautiful.
Yesterday we rode on the Rio ferris wheel. It moved very slow but it was still fun to see the city from above.
After that we went to the Escadiaria Selaron. It is lots of stairs made out of tile. The tiles are from all over the world! This is me pointing at a tile from Camano Island!!
The stairs were unlike anything I've ever seen. The red tiles on the walls beside the stairs made the stairs look amazing. I loved all the artwork on the front part of the stairs.
Of course I miss you all and hope you're enjoying fall.
