Since I last wrote we have gone to Awamaki, visited Machu Picchu, and done a hike through ancient ruins. We have also been sick. It was no fun because all we did was lay on the couch and watch TV. Well, I guess the TV part was pretty fun because I watched for five hours!!!
Awamaki is a community of women who do weaving. We made bracelets! It was pretty fun but also a bit hard. This picture is of me and my friend making the weaving! She made a loom by putting a stick into the ground and then putting yarn on it. It looked complicated to start but it got easier. I love my bracelet...the border is blue and then there is a pattern of purple and yellow in the middle.
This is me holding Catalina. She is the daughter of the person who brought us to Awamaki. She is one of the cutest kids I know! We played together, and I helped her with a lot of things. I'm glad I went to Awamaki. It was really fun! I recommend you go there one day.
MACHU!!! Machu Picchu is a very beautiful place of ancient ruins made by the Incan Civilization. They are made all of rock that scientists think came off a mountain during an earthquake. Then the Incan Civilization burned them so they cracked into smaller pieces. Some rocks were the size of a couch!! Can you believe that???
It was really fun to be there except for the part where I got a million and a half mosquito bites. I loved learning about the Incan Civilization. I think they were really committed to their work, and I'm glad they did it. I think you should learn about it too!!!
Today we went on a really, really, really long hike. It started above Pisac. Pisac is the little town we are staying in. At the top there were Incan ruins. We hiked around and got lost a couple times in the ruins. We had views of mountains, terraces, and very very cute alpacas. Then we hiked down and saw more ruins.
Amazing view of the city and terraces!
Us being silly on terraces!!!
Me drinking water and making a GUILTY face!
It is so cool being somewhere you can easily go and visit historic sights. I have learned a lot about the Incas! I hope you all are having a great summer!!!!!
Love Ginny!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
p.s. we rode home in the HOTTEST and STUFFIEST tuk-tuk ever!
You are a very good writer, Ginny! Love reading your blogs. Love, Munga
But isn’t a stinky and stuffy tuk tuk still so much fun??!!
